Abstrak

MPT. DEF is a company in Indonesia which is enganged in the manufacturing industry that produces tires. One of the products produced is a motorcycle inner tube. In the manufacturing process there is a splicing process. Splicing is a process of joining a green stick to form a green tube. In the splicing section there are three lines with a total of thirty-four machines operating with a predetermined target by prioritizing the quality of the splicing department on line 3 having an OEE value below the standard which is 48,37% due to the low performance value 55,69% which is caused by the long set up time. The purpose of this study is to increase the OEE value by reducing the set up value using the SMED method by dividing the activity into internal an external set-up, then minimize their activity, reducing movement and elimination movement from the set-up process. To reduce the set-up time there are 2 improvement which is toolbox for mounting and tooling and we decide mounting to put it in the toolbox based on data usage from 3 month. After improvement set up time reduce from 16,99 minute to be 7,14 minute, the percentase set-up change decrease until 58,19% in one step set-up process.
